First Sailing Experience: I went out in a twenty pound boat with my brother and Dad when I was about four years old. None of us had been out on a boat before so my Dad was reading a book on how to sail at the time. We made it about 100m before washing up on the beach!

Worst Sailing Moment: The first day of the Laser World Championships in 2001. I was the youngest competitor there and had spent ten hours on the water. Actually, it taught me the biggest lesson of my life – sometimes you don't want to be somewhere (stuck out on the water in this case) but you just have to get on with it and do it. There is no way to turn back or stop.
